Alcohol-related crash deaths often spike around popular events like the Super Bowl, the agency said.
“Drinking and driving is not a game, it’s a deadly combination and a crime,” said Kara Hitchens, Manager of Public and Government Affairs for AAA. “Make your winning drive a sober one and designate a driver before indulging in alcohol. Don’t fumble when it comes to safety. Drunk driving is 100 percent preventable.”
Law enforcement officers plan to be all over Montgomery County Sunday looking to stop drunk drivers.
“The Super Bowl is one of those where everybody drinks or is impaired in some form,” said Michelle Moser, Montgomery County OVI Task Force.
There were nearly 10,000 drunk-driving related crashes in 2022, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
350 people died.
