Dayton police to have large presence downtown Saturday due to concert

DAYTON — If you’re in downtown Dayton Saturday evening, you may see a heavy police presence.

The Dayton Police Department will have a large presence around the Dayton Convention Center, located at 33 E. Fifth Street, due to a concert.

Beginning at 5 p.m., the following road closures and restrictions will be in effect:

  • E. Fifth Street between S. Main Street and S. Jefferson Street will be closed to vehicle traffic.
  • E. Fourth Street between S. Jefferson Street and St. Clair will be restricted to allow expedited departure from the parking garage.
  • The walkway from the parking garage to the Dayton Convention Center will be closed. All pedestrian access will be through the main entrance.

The police department says those planning to attend the concert need to know that no weapons, bags or purses will be permitted inside the venue and patrons will be required to pass through a security checkpoint.
