Dayton nonprofit broken into, van stolen and damaged

A transit van was stolen from a Dayton nonprofit organization and damaged over the weekend.

Crews were dispatched early Saturday morning on an abandoned vehicle behind an address on East Second Street, according to a police incident report.

The report states three males in all dark clothing parked the transit van in the alley and fled on foot.

Crews found the “Toward Independence” van and discovered it was from a company located in Xenia.

An employee responded to pick up the van, but found it was from one of their partner companies, Life Enrichment Center, and stolen from 425 N. Findlay St.

During the incident, the passenger side and outside of the van was damaged, the driver side mirror was broken, and the lift door and door handle inside was broken, the report stated.

No suspect information is available and no arrests have been make.

Police are investigating the incident.
