Dayton Foodbank donations allow for replanting after storm damage

The Foodbank has received enough donations from local farmers and nurseries to replant the gardens that were destroyed during a recent hail storm, said James Hoffer, garden manager at The Foodbank, Friday.

The Dayton Foodbank is asking for assistance from the public after Monday’s storms destroyed much of the tomato and green bean crop planted for this season.

A couple of local organizations have offered to assist in getting the Foodbank’s garden back up and running, but organizers said they are in need of tomato and green bean donations until the crop is back to normal.

The Foodbank provides food to people in need from Greene, Montgomery and Preble counties.

Anyone who would like to contribute can visit the Foodbank’s location at 56 Armour Place in Dayton.
