WATCH: Blue glow captured on video during Monday storms

A blue glow was captured on video moving along what appears to possibly be a power line during Monday’s storm.

Dayton Power and Light officials reviewed the video after News Center 7 brought it to their attention.

The power provider said it appears the blue glow is the result of ionized energy looking for a place to ground itself, according to a spokesperson.

The glow could have been a result of anything ranging from a direct lightning strike to a tree falling on a wire, however based on the video DP&L could not definitively say what caused the phenomena, the spokesperson said.

According to the spokesperson, it’s important if you observe something like this around you to take extra safety precautions and not investigate this incident yourself.

You can report any issues or dangers with power by calling DP&L’s outage center at 877-468-8243 or in an emergency 911.
