Procession marks the passing of Dayton Firefighter/Paramedic Brian Poole

UPDATE @ 10:33 p.m. (Oct. 15): There was a funeral procession Tuesday night to remember 35-year-old Dayton Firefighter/Paramedic Brian Poole, who died Oct. 9.

The procession came after a visitation at St. Helen Catholic Church, on Burkhardt Road in Riverside,  and continued to the Tobias Funeral Home on Far Hills Avenue.

He was a 12-year Dayton Fire Department veteran and is survived by his wife, Jaimie; five children; his parents, a sister and two brothers as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A second visitation will be Thursday in Wintersville, Ohio, where Poole formerly served with Wintersville Fire and Rescue. A private family interment service will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Steubenville, according to Tobias Funeral Home.

The family requests donations in the firefighter’s memory be directed to an education fund for his children, in care of the Firefighters and Company Federal Credit Union, 338 S. Patterson Blvd., Dayton 45402.

FIRST REPORT (Oct. 10)

The City of Dayton has announced the death of a firefighter and paramedic.

Brian Poole died Wednesday afternoon while off duty.

“We are asking that you respect the family's privacy during this difficult time,” said a statement from the city. “Funeral arrangements are pending.”

The cause of death has not been released.
