18-year-old killed in Clark County crash

HARMONY TOWNSHIP — UPDATE: 10:45 p.m.

The Springfield Post of the Ohio State Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that happened Tuesday evening.

The crash happened on Old Columbus Road east of Bowman Road around 6:25 p.m., OSP said.

According to OSP, a car driven by 18-year-old Matthew Funk, of Springfield, was travelling westbound on Old Columbus Road near Bowman Road.

Funk lost control on the wet roadway, causing his car to drive left of the center line, according to OSP.

As a result, Funk’s car was struck on the passenger side by a vehicle driven by 55-year-old Sharon Redmon, of Springfield, who was travelling eastbound on Old Columbus Road.

Funk was pronounced deceased on scene. Next of kin has been notified.

Redmon was transported to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries.

According to OSP, Old Columbus Road was closed for around four hours.

The crash remains under investigation.

Crews were called to respond to reports of an injury crash in Clark County Tuesday evening.

The crash happened in the area of Old Columbus Road and Bowman Road around 6:30 p.m., according to initial reports.

According to initial emergency scanner traffic, crews were called to respond to a head-on collision with a possible entrapment.

Dispatch was unable to confirm if anyone was injured at this time.
