According to Hall, the Dayton Fire Department asked for assistance to have electric facilities nearby de-energized.

He said DP&L crews could not reach some facilities so they took the outage to a larger area of customers.

Crews were able to isolate necessary equipment from the fire and most customer’s power was restored around 7 a.m., Hall said.

Power was fully restored to every customer around 8:15 a.m.

DP&L is on scene after the fire affected a transformer in the back of the home. A main line had to be dropped causing people in the neighborhood to lose power, the firefighter said.

Neighbors said they heard gunshots around 1 to 3 a.m. but they didn’t see anyone in the area of the home. The firefighter said he thinks that incident may be related to the fire.

The cause is under investigation but the home is damaged beyond repair.
