Cover your mouth! Men fight at Kroger

A 76-year-old Springfield man faces assault charges after allegedly slapping a Kroger shopper across the face while the two men were arguing inside the store Wednesday.

The argument at the South Limestone Street store began after Leroy Burroughs allegedly coughed into the meat cooler without covering his mouth, and the victim asked Burroughs to cover his mouth if he was going to cough onto store products. When the two men crossed paths later in the store, the issue of the coughing came up again and Burroughs got out of his motorized shopping cart and allegedly slapped the other man across the face.

A Kroger security guard witnessed the incident and called police.

Burroughs was arraigned in court on the misdemeanor charge Thursday morning.
