Cloudy with a Chance of Podcast: Water Safety

Summer is almost officially here and with quarantine keeping people inside, many families are looking for a safe place to go to enjoy the great outdoors! The Miami Valley parks and waterways like rivers and lakes are becoming a popular choice. According to Erin Shaw, a Naturalist for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, area parks like Caesar Creek State Park have been the busiest she has ever seen them.

May and June have had some very hot stretches, so people have been getting out on the water. Shaw sat down with Kirstie and McCall to go over some important things to know to stay safe on our local rivers and lakes.

She went over the 120 rule which explains the importance of water temperature if you want to swim, boating etiquette, and what you need to know if you want to canoe or kayak this time of year!
