OAKWOOD — The city of Oakwood is relocating and upgrading its public-access recycling facility.

Currently, the facility is located in the Creager Field Dog Park parking lot, at the corner of Shafor Blvd. and Irving Avenue. Plans include moving the facility to a larger area at the entrance to the Public Works yard at 210 Shafor Blvd.

City officials said the move will make drop-off operations more efficient. The new facility will accommodate green waste, cardboard and co-mingled recyclables, like glass, plastics and metal cans.

In the second phase, a large retaining wall will be extended to provide the level space for the new facility. That phase is expected to being during the week of Sept. 13.
