Miami County native among firefighters to rescue dog stuck in concrete crevice in Cincinnati

CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Fire Department rescued a dog after finding her stuck between two concrete walls Sunday morning.

Gertie, a 35-pound white terrier mix, had been missing for five days when the Cincinnati Fire Department found her at the bottom of a “deep concrete crevice” in the neighborhood of Northside, our news partners at WCPO reported.

Firefighters told WCPO they could not reach Gertie to lift her from the crevice she was wedged tightly into without intervention.

Following 10 minutes of work with a sledgehammer, firefighter Jennifer Adkins, a Miami County native, was able to reach and rescue Gertie.

She has since been return to her family.

Truck 20 Dog Rescue

There have been missing posters up in Northside for five days in hopes of someone finding Gertie. Today a homeowner heard a dog crying behind the garage wall and called us to check it out. This run ended in a happy reunion and a job well done by Truck 20!
