6 injured in Bethel Twp. accident

BETHEL TWP. — Six people were transported to area hospitals after a two-vehicle accident in Bethel Twp.

The accident happened just before 6:10 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of U.S. 40 and S. Palmer Road in Bethel Twp.

Miami County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Todd Tennant told News Center 7 that a green Dodge Sudan was stopped at a stop sign while traveling southbound on Palmer Road when it appeared to pull out and was struck by red Dodge truck was traveling eastbound on U.S. 40.

One adult male and four juveniles were traveling in the green vehicle. The right front passenger of the vehicle was trapped in the vehicle.

All passengers were transported with severe to life-threatening injuries. One passenger was transported by CareFlight.

The driver of the truck sustained moderate injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

Tennant said preliminary investigation revealed driver inattention was the cause of the crash.

Passengers in the green vehicle were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
