Man flown to hospital after Darke County motorcycle crash

DARKE COUNTY — A male motorcyclist was flown to Miami Valley Hospital with critical injuries after being ejected from his motorcycle after a head-on crash in near Union City.

According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, a preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 2:58 p.m., Gary Charles III, 34, of Greenville, was driving a red 2007 Yamaha Royal Star motorcycle southwest on Converse Road when he failed to navigate a curve.

Charles drove left of center and hit a black 2004 GMC Sierra pick-up truck traveling eastbound head-on.

The driver of the pick-up, Wilbur Sink, 68, of Union City, Ohio, was treated for injuries and released at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
