DAYTON — An unknown number of Dayton Power & Light customers will be without power until a transmission pole at East Siebenthaler Avenue, near Lindale Avenue, is replaced because it was damaged Monday afternoon when a car slammed into it.

When the car hit the pole about 4:20 p.m., an estimated 1,556 customers lost power, DP&L spokewoman Kelly Millhouse said.
By 6 p.m., the number of affected customers had fallen to 283, she said.
There will be some customers left without power while the pole, which carried several transfer power lines, is being replaced.
