As far as banquet dining, Kettering Fire Battalion Chief Doug Panstingel said, “this is going to be closed for a while.”

Flames tore through the ceiling and roof on the back side of the country club, the battalion chief said.

There were a limited number of staff on site because on the street, a gas line to the business was being worked on and gas service to the club’s banquet area had been turned off.

There were no reported injuries, Panstingel said.

He declined to estimate a dollar amount for the damage to the structure and contents.

Crews were called to the country club initially on a sprinkler alarm, he said, but that was quickly upgraded to a working fire when a maintenance worker called 9-1-1 to report seeing flames coming through the roof.

INITIAL REPORT

Crews from Kettering and Oakwood responded this evening to a fire at the NCR Country Club.

The fire was reported around 6 p.m. at the club at 4435 Dogwood Trail in Kettering. Smoke was showing from the parking lot of the one-story facility.

According to initial reports, there was fire in the rear of the building, which was possibly spreading to the attic.
