Search is on for driver who hit utility pole, gas meter near Arcanum

UPDATE @ 12:55 a.m.: A white Buick Riviera was headed west when it went off the left side of the roadway in the 5600 block of Arcanum Hollansburg Road, knocking down a utility pole and hitting a residential gas meter.

The driver appears to have fled, so deputies don't know whether anyone has been injured, Darke County sheriff's Sgt. Steve Mills said. Two officers are in Arcanum, looking for the driver.

There are some power outages in the area and a Vectren crew has been dispatched to cut off the gas.

There don't appear to be any skid marks, Mills said.

If the driver is located, that person could be charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to control a motor vehicle.
