Car crash into pole leaves hundreds without power in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD — A car crash into a power pole left more than 300 Ohio Edison customers in the dark this morning.

According to the Springfield post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a car crashed into power pole in the 2000 block of Villa Road at around 6:38 a.m.

The driver escaped with minor injuries, but the crash damaged power lines, leaving 141 customers in Moorefield Township, 192 customers in Springfield, and 2 in Springfield Township without power.

Ohio Edison crews are on the scene, OSP said, and the Ohio Edison outage map lists an estimated restoration time of around 10 a.m.

We have reached out to Ohio Edison for comment on the outage, but were unavailable at time of writing.
