People in the area told News Center 7 their biggest fear was that an innocent bystander could’ve been hurt — or worse — in the cross fire.

“Bullets don’t have a name,” said Maurice Snead.

He was on his way to work and feet away from the where the shooting took place when he heard about the incident.

“Someone else could have been shot and killed,” he said. “It’s very scary.”

Salem Avenue between Ohio 49 and Olive Road was closed for more than five hours while Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers conducted their investigation.

But this morning it was back to business as usual for the shops along Salem.

As Snead was walking in for his shift, he said hearing about the incident made him uneasy.

Allen Jones, who drives on Salem nearly every day, said the news was disheartening for a city that’s been through so much.

“Especially after the tornadoes, I thought people would calm down, but it seems like we’re more out of control,” said Jones.

Both Snead and Jones said they were glad to hear no innocent bystanders were hurt as a result of the chase or shooting.
