Dayton Bomb Squad called to investigate ‘suspicious bag’ at Meijer in Kettering

KETTERING — UPDATE: 8 p.m.

Kettering Dispatch confirmed that the suspicious package was just an empty bag.

The scene was cleared around 6:45 p.m. after the bomb squad learned the bag was not a threat.


INITIAL REPORT:

The Dayton Bomb Squad has been called to the Meijer on the 4000 block of Wilmington Pike on a report of a ”suspicious bag,” according to Kettering Dispatch.

Police and fire crews have been on scene since just after 5:30 p.m., according to scanners.

Initial scanner traffic reported that the bomb squad does not want shoppers walking to their vehicles or exiting the store while being near “the possible bomb.”

Dispatch was unable to confirm any additional details at this time about the situation.
