Area counties hold drug take back locations Saturday

MIAMI VALLEY — Drug take back locations are open in Troy, Springfield, and Sidney today.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., curbside service is available at the Miami County Sanitary Engineer’s Office, 2200 North County Road 25A in Troy.

Staff from the sheriff’s office are collecting old, expired, and unused pills.

If you are planning to drop off medication, collection site workers are asking that you put the pills in a clear plastic baggie prior to drop-off.

The pills are later disposed in an environmentally safe manner by the Drug Enforcement Administration, a media release from Miami County stated.

Two drug take back locations in Springfield are also open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.

Workers at the Springview Government Center parking lot, 3130 East Main Street, and the Tecumseh High School parking lot, 10000 West National Road, will be accepting all types of pills and patches as well as any vaping devices.

Deputies and staff will come to your vehicle and pick the items up so you do not need to exit your vehicle.

A fourth drug take back location will be open in the Miami Valley today at 234 West Court Street in Sidney.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. workers at the Sidney location will collect tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs.

The Sidney Police Department will also accept liquids (including intravenous solutions), syringes and other sharps.
