Anna man accused of raping teenage girl

ANNA — A 19-year-old Shelby County man is facing a rape charge after he was accused of forcing an underage teen to perform a sex act on him earlier this year, according to court records.

Gage Wannemacher, of Anna, was charged with a single count of rape over the weekend. Court records show the allegations stem from an incident in January.

Investigators said the victim was known to Wannemacher.

According to court records, Wannemacher is accused of forcing himself on the teenage girl, refusing to let her get up.

The sheriff’s office said it was informed of the allegations of the rape over the weekend and Wannemacher was arrested on Saturday.

He appeared in court on Monday, where his bond was set at $100,000. He’s bonded out of jail and has been ordered not to have any contact with the victim or any other unrelated minors.

The case will be presented to a Shelby County grand jury on a later date.
