CENTERVILLE — In it’s 50th year, the Americana Festival had big plans for its Centerville residents and other attendees, but organizers say the fireworks display did not go as planned.
Every year, thousands of people line up along Franklin Street to see all the colors light up the night sky, but the Americana Festival Committee said this year’s fireworks display was a disappointment.

Organizers posted on Facebook a statement explaining that the fireworks display did not go off as designed or planned.
“This year’s event was expected to and contracted to exceed previous displays both in length and design. It fell far short of our expectations. The Americana Festival Committee is currently gathering information to determine why the show was shorter and the quality of the fireworks display significantly less than expected,” the post said.
Some attendees noticed something seemed off.
“I thought it was a great show, but then it just kind of ended early,” said Tara Brown. “I thought there would have been more of a finale at the end, so I was just a little surprised, but I still thought it was great.”
The festival committee has reached out to its fireworks vendor to determine if there was something wrong with the fireworks and to ensure quality show in the future.
