American Red Cross offers gifts for donations

The American Red Cross is looking for people of all blood types to donate blood or platelets.

Those who donate now until January 2 will receive a long sleeve shirt will supplies last.

Red Cross urges people to donate as several factors related to the holiday season and the season causes a disruption to the blood supply.

The organization may have less blood available due to people traveling for the holidays, season illnesses decreasing the number of healthy donors, and unsafe weather conditions causing closures of blood drives.

The American Red Cross urges people to donate while they can especially if the donor an O blood type, the spokesperson for the organization said.

Donors can donate at the following locations at the given times:

GREENE COUNTY:

• Fairborn Senior Center:
• December 27: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY:

• American Red Cross - Dayton Office:
• December 29: 12 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
