The airline industry is searching for ways to boost business after COVID-19 restrictions cut air travel by more than 90 percent last year.
Airports, like Dayton International Airport, and airlines are doing their best to convince people that it is safe to fly. Aviation expert, Jay Ratliff said that even though airports and airlines have tried to inform people on their advanced cleaning efforts and air filtration systems, as well as their strict mask policies; they passenger levels are only back to 40 percent of what they were pre-COVID.

Ratliff said that most airlines are hoping one thing helps boost their numbers.
“Right now, airlines are pinning all their hopes on the vaccine,” Ratliff said.
Even with most of the attention turned towards the vaccine, Ratliff said there was another way the Dayton airport could increase their business.
“For the Dayton airport, the only way to turn it around is increase the number of low cost fares or low cost flights,” Ratliff said.
