AAA receives over 2,000 calls for assistance over holiday weekend

AAA busy with roadside assistance during frigid winter days

MIAMI VALLEY — AAA Miami Valley has received over more than 2,000 calls for assistance over this long holiday weekend.

A total of 2,085 calls for assistance were placed to AAA from Friday to Monday at 1 p.m., according to a AAA spokesperson.

The most common reasons for the calls have been battery, tow, and extrication assistance.

The majority of the calls came Friday, when drivers faced the brunt of the winter storm that moved through the Miami Valley. A spokesperson for AAA said they received 926 calls Friday.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a number of crashes over the weekend, including on Friday when approximately 15 crashes shut down I-70 in Preble County.

This is how the remaining 1,159 called broke down over the holiday weekend:

  • Saturday, Dec. 24; 616 calls
  • Sunday, Dec. 25: 195 calls
  • Monday, Dec. 26 (as of 1 p.m.): 348 calls
