MERCER COUNTY — A 6-year-old boy was killed after an ATV overturned in a crash on private property in Mercer County Monday night, according to Sheriff Jeff Grey.

Sawyer D. Overman was identified by Grey as the child killed in the crash, reported near state Route 49 and Park Road in Recovery Twp. around 7:40 p.m. Monday.
An initial investigation found Overman was the operator of the ATV, and was traveling with his 8-year-old brother on a gravel road between two fields, Grey said in a media release Tuesday morning. The ATV traveled off the right side of the gravel road, overcorrected, then overturned, ejecting and pinning Overman under the vehicle, investigators said.
The 8-year-old boy was able to free himself from the crash and sought help. Deputies said he only suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Overman was transported to Mercer Health in Coldwater where he was later pronounced dead.
