McCaskill left her granddaughter’s birthday party last year when Reed and another person pulled a gun on her outside of an apartment and demanded her car keys. WBNS reported that she was shot multiple times with an AR-style gun after she refused to hand them over and yelled for help.
Reed was sentenced to life in prison. He has the possibility of parole after 23 years.
Reed confessed to being involved and investigators recovered a Glock switch from him.
