DAYTON, Ohio — A mass vaccination clinic is taking place Friday to protect some of the most vulnerable members of the community.

The Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities is teaming up with a local pharmacy to administer the shots to developmentally disabled adults.

The clinic is taking place at Mt. Enon Baptist Church off West Third Street which graciously opened their doors for the space needed to hold the vaccination clinic.

Workers from the county and from Zik’s Pharmacy are on site all day today to help administer about 200 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The clinic is by appointment only. Each patient getting a shot came with a caregiver and received their first doses of the Pfizer vaccine. All of them will need to get the second dose in 21 days before they are fully protected.

Leaders at the Montgomery County Developmental Disability Board told News Center 7 that the clinic is still part of the Phase 1A vaccinations and when completed today, they expect to have 1000 vaccinations of developmental disability patients finished in the county. However, there is still more work to be done, considering they serve 5,000 clients in the area.
