Local business expands, hires dozens of workers through CARES Act funding

GREENE COUNTY, Ohio — A local business in Greene County recently expanded its operations, which allowed it to hire more than two dozen additional employees.

Materials Resources LLC expanded its location as part of the release of their TiPolar microscope, which allowed the company to hire 22 new employees in 2020 and will create at least 10 new jobs in 2021.

MRL received a federal loan through the Paycheck Protection Program that was funded by the CARES Act and the funding allowed MRL to retain its workforce.

As part of the expansion, Congressman Mike Turner visited the location and was given a tour.

Dr. Ayman Salem, CEO of MRL said, “We are honored to have Congressman Turner visit MRL, celebrate the release of our optical microscope for orientation imaging (TiPolar) for inspecting aerospace titanium which will benefit the Air Force and the whole aerospace supply chain.”

Company officials said the TiPolar project is funded through the Small Business Innovation Research program. The machine is designed to inspect aerospace titanium components at ½ micron solution and as fast as 200,000 pixels per esecond.

MRL has been working with the Department of Defense and the Department of Energy on more than 30 contracts in an effort to improve additive manufacturing processes.
