UPDATE: Escaped Greene County inmate is in custody, sheriff says

XENIA — UPDATE: @ 12:42 a.m. (May 30): Escaped Greene County inmate Bobbie Lee Hagan has been apprehended and is in custody, the county sheriff said.

There are no further details at this time.

UPDATE @ 11:10 p.m.: The search for escaped inmate Bobbie Lee Hagan has been called off for the night, a Xenia Twp. fire battalion chief said.

INITIAL REPORT (May 29)

Greene County deputies and Xenia police are searching for escaped Greene Count inmate Bobbie Lee Hagan, who broke away from a deputy in the Greene Memorial Hospital on Friday night.

Police are searching the area around the hospital. Xenia Twp. firefighters are using a drone.

Hagan was taken to the hospital for a medical reason, according to the sheriff’s office. He was being detained on misdemeanor shoplifting charges in Greene County and felony drug charges out of Champaign County.

He is originally from Springfield and was wearing a blue jumpsuit when he escaped.

The sheriff is asking residents near the hospital and people in Springfield to be careful.
