Christopher Sopher was sworn in Monday as the newest police officer in the city of Fairborn.
A West Carrollton resident and graduate of Chillicothe High School, Sopher began working as a jailer with the Fairborn Police Department in September 2014.
While working as a jailer, he attended the Greene County Criminal Justice Academy, graduated in May 2015 and obtained his Ohio Peace Officers Certification.
Subsequently, he was then hired by the Miami University Police Department to serve as a police officer.
Sopher will have 18 weeks of training with the Fairborn Police Department.
“I would eventually like to be an instructor in an academy while I am still working as an officer. I would like to be able to make an impact on recruits and spread the knowledge that I have learned,” Sopher said in a release. “My main goal right now is to do the job the right way with hopes to eventually teach in an academy.”
