An electrical panel malfunction sent smoke and an acrid burning smell into the air near the swimming pool by the United Theological Seminary on Denlinger Road in Trotwood.
Firefighters encountered heavy smoke coming from the small utility room by the pool. A fire official said initially it looked like it might be a chemical spill, but crews quickly zeroed in on the source. People were around the pool when it happened but no one was hurt. The electrical panel was burned badly.
The pool is expected to be closed at least for the rest of the day, officials said.

Firefighters are wearing masks as they enter a small building by the large swimming pool by the United Theological Seminary, 4501 Denlinger Road, Trotwood.
A small cloud of smoke or vapor was visible near the building.
According to dispatch records, there was also a burning smell.
It’s unclear if there is a fire or a chemical leak of some kind.

Crews in Trotwood have responded to the report of smoke and a burning smell by a large swimming pool in the 4500 block of Denlinger Road.
A cloud of vapor or smoke was visibly emanating from a building by the pool as firefighters worked to locate the problem.
