The Dayton Dragons finished seventh in average attendance in all of Minor League Baseball for the 2016 season.
The Dragons, a Single-A team, averaged 8,188 fans per game, with a season total of 548,574, according to a release.
Nine of the top 10 clubs in the final rankings were Triple-A teams, with the Dragons the only exception.
The Dragons’ final attendance total ranked first among the 130 teams below the Triple-A level.
The Dragons have finished in the top 10 among all Minor League Baseball clubs in each of their 17 seasons and have finished No. 1 among all Single-A and Double-A teams for 11 straight years, the release says.
The Dragons’ 17 seasons of operation represent the top 17 single-season attendance totals in Single-A baseball history.
Each of the Dragons home games in 2016 resulted in a sellout, extending the Dragons sellout streak to 1,188 consecutive games. Every Dragons game ever played at Fifth Third Field has been a sellout.
Minor League Baseball also announced that its regular season attendance total of a little more than 41.3 million was the ninth-highest total in history and the 12th consecutive year above 41 million.
