Concerns have spread after at least a dozen Texans got infected with a disease from the “Kissing Bug.”
An Englewood father, Ryan White, contacted our newsroom after he found what he thought was the kissing bug
Last week, news about the “kissing bug” spread after over a dozen people reportedly got infected with a disease-causing parasite after getting bit by the bug. The disease - Chagas - can cause death if left untreated.
An Ohio State entomologist looked at the bug and said it was a harmless leaf-footed bug. He said Kissing Bugs will only have interest in someone unless they smell and taste like a pine tree or spruce tree.
