UPDATE: Woman taken into custody after pursuit ends in crash

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 5:00 p.m.:

A woman has been taken into custody after being involved in a pursuit that ended in a crash in Dayton.

Sgt. Alex Magill, Dayton Police Department, told News Center 7 that the the female suspect was previously been involved in an investigation of a traffic accident in Miami Twp. when she drove away from the scene and got onto I-75 northbound. Due to public safety, police followed the woman because her car was partially disabled.

The woman got off of I-75 at Edwin C. Moses Blvd. Magill said DPD deployed stop sticks, but did not get directly involved in the pursuit.

Upon entering the intersection of Washington and Longsworth streets, Magill said the woman ran a red light and hit a white Ford Sedan.

Magill said no one was injured in the crash.

Magill could not confirm if a sheriff’s cruiser was involved in the crash.

The crashes are under investigation.

INITIAL REPORT:

A pursuit involving multiple agencies in Montgomery County has ended in a crash involving a sheriff’s office cruiser on Washington Street in Dayton, according to initial reports.

Police reported following the vehicle north on I-75 from the Miamisburg area around 3:30 p.m. Officers reportedly stopped and picked up the pursuit multiple times due to erratic driving and high traffic, according to police scanner traffic.

The pursuit continued onto the surface streets and would end in a crash on Washington Street at Veteran’s Parkway. The crash reportedly involved a Montgomery County Sheriff’s office cruiser.

Two medics have been requested to the scene. The conditions of those injured in the crash were not immediately known.

It was not immediately clear if the suspect in the pursuit had been taken into custody.
