Officers were called to the Walmart on West Michigan Street after receiving reports of shots fired in the parking lot around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday.

A preliminary investigation found Holthaus was in her car and was following a pickup truck, pointing a gun outside her car towards the truck, police said in a media release.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 63-year-old Troy man stopped his truck in the Walmart lot and attempted to exit his truck. Police said Holthaus then fired shots towards him, hitting the truck, before she fled the scene.

The man, or other bystanders, were not hit or injured by the gunfire.

Officers responded to Holthaus’ home, located her and the gun believed to have been used, and arrested her.

The incident is believed to have been connected to unresolved domestic issues between Holthaus and the man, stemming from a relationship that ended recently.
