Richard Hunt, 53, was found dead in a wooded area on Free Pike near Arlene Avenue December 7, police said in a media release Tuesday. Further investigation by police found he was likely hit by a vehicle sometime in October and the crash wasn’t previously reported to police.

“It was determined that Mr. Hunt was likely struck by a vehicle sometime in October. Detectives believe the vehicle that struck Mr. Hunt fled the scene, and the accident was never reported,” the spokesperson said.

Police are now asking for the public’s help for information in the crash. If you witnessed the crash or have details that can help the police investigation, you’re asked to call Detective Rizer at 937-333-1142 or Miami Valley Crime Stoppers at 937-222-7867. Tips can be submitted anonymously and a cash reward is available for information that leads to an arrest.

“Any tip or piece of information is significant. Anything pertaining to this investigation will be helpful to detectives in potentially solving the case,” the spokesperson said.
