HUBER HEIGHTS — An investigation into a bomb threat at Rushmore Elementary School in Huber Heights was deemed a non-credible threat, district Superintendent Mario Basora said in a social media message.

The investigation was launched around 2 p.m. Wednesday after police and fire crews were called to the school, according to initial reports. Before police responded, an anonymous call was received by a police department in another state about a possible bomb, Basora said.

Students who were in the building Wednesday were evacuated and are all safe and accounted for, Basora said in the message. Those students were taken to the Studebaker Central Office and arrangements were made for students to get home.

“Huber Heights Police and Fire Department are currently on scene and the building and surrounding area is secure. At this time, we have no evidence that this is a credible threat; however, we will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates accordingly,” Basora said.

“We are proud of the way our students and staff responded during this time and appreciate our local law enforcement’s prompt response in keeping our schools safe.”

We’ll continue to update this story as we learn more.
