Man who caused 2019 deadly wrong-way I-675 crash gets prison time

XENIA — A man accused in a deadly wrong-way crash on I-675 in Beavercreek that killed a Wright State student in 2019 has pleaded guilty to charges.

Ronald Myer, 55, of Centerville, pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide and OVI in Greene County Court of Common Pleas Friday afternoon. Myer had previously entered not guilty pleas to the charges.

The plea was part of an agreement with prosecutors and he was sentenced to a minimum of 5 years in prison with a maximum of 7.5 years in prison.

Myer caused a crash over two years ago that killed Wright State University student Paige Patrick, 23, of Vandalia.

The crash happened on I-675 north near the Ohio 844/North Fairfield Road exit on June 21.

Traffic camera footage showed and police said that Myer entered the northbound highway going the wrong way from the Ohio 844 exit. Police said early in the investigation that alcohol was a suspected factor in the crash.

At the time of the crash, Myer was a civilian employee at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

The case had been scheduled for a jury trial on multiple occasions however the scheduled trial was moved back each time. The trial was most recently scheduled to begin in late September.
