SIDNEY — A Shelby County crime stoppers organization is offering a reward for information into a string of vandalism at Sidney city parks, including the destruction of some memorial trees planted along the Veteran’s Memorial Walkway.

Instances of vandalism at the Sidney Water Park, Custenborder Fields, and Tawawa Park has increased “significantly” through the summer, according to police.
“On multiple occasions, park equipment was damaged or destroyed including two memorial trees planted along the Veteran’s Memorial Walkway, near the Stolle Bridge in Custenborder Fields,” a Sidney police spokesperson said in a media release Wednesday.
Most of the damage has occurred during overnight and early morning hours, however some of the vandalism has happened during daylight hours, police said.
A $500 reward is being offered by Sidney-Shelby County Crime Stoppers for information that leads to the arrest of the people responsible for the damage.
People with information that can help investigators are asked to contact the crime stoppers line at 937-492-8477. Tips can be submitted anonymously, police said.
