911 dispatchers hear gunshots in background of call during shooting at Davey Moore Park

SPRINGFIELD — News Center 7 got a hold of 911 calls in connection to a shooting that put a 16-year-old in the hospital Friday night in Springfield.

“911?” the dispatcher answered. She then heard running and gunshots in the background.

“Oh yeah, I hear gunshots in the background,” said the dispatcher. “I think this is Davey Moore Park.”

The dispatcher heard the gunshots in the background of the call.

It happened just after 8 p.m. Saturday night at Davey Moore Park on South Western Avenue in Springfield.

A 16-year-old suffered non-life-threatening injuries after getting shot in the elbow, Springfield Police told News Center 7.

We are working to learn what led to the shooting and if anyone is in custody.
