Walmart evacuated because of phoned threat

The Walmart Supercenter on Miller Lane was evacuated for a brief time Monday afternoon in response to a phoned-in bomb threat.

A Butler Twp. police officer said a call came into the store saying there was a bomb inside. The officer said he another officer walked through the store, 3465 York Commons Blvd., and found nothing.

The evacuation, which went into effect at about 5:30 p.m., was ended at about 7 p.m.

A media relations person with the store offered no comment. There were no injuries.

Calls from shoppers began coming into the WHIO-TV newsroom at about 6:30 p.m.

One man, who declined to be identified by name, said he asked a police officer in the parking lot what was happening, but got no answer.

The man said he couldn't leave because his vehicle was being serviced.
