Beavercreek police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man officers said allegedly tried to remove prescription medication from a homeowners medicine cabinet.
Officers said images were captured by a realtor during an open house in the city on Sunday.
Police said realtors use different ideas to keep your valuable safe when listing your home and opening it to prospective buyers, like using a camera.
Mark Kottman, former president of Dayton Board of Realtors, said there are number of things homeowners can do to keep lessen the chances of someone stealing from their home during open houses. Kottman recommends removing items that are valuable or could be harmful from the home before letting people in.
“It is best to have medicine or guns locked away so that people who are in the home can’t access them,” he said.
Kottman also said homeowners can lessen the chance of theft by limiting the amount of people who are in the home, so they are not unattended and by verifying the visitors identity through a phone number or email address.
If you recognize the man in the photos you are asked to contact Beavercreek police at 937-426-1225.
