Police seek serial Dollar General robbery suspect

Police believe a robbery suspect may be targeting Dollar General stores in the Dayton area.

On Wednesday, Dayton police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Dollar General store on Wayne Avenue shortly before 5 p.m.

A store employee told police he was with a customer at the cash register when a man with his face covered approached him from behind and asked him for money. The employee believed the suspect had a gun barrel sticking out of his sleeve, according to the police report.

The suspect ordered the cashier to get on the ground, and then grabbed some bills out of the drawer, dropping some on the floor. The suspect picked up the bills and asked the worker where the big bills were located. When the cashier replied that the money was in a safe that he did not have access to, the suspect left the store.

In a surveillance video, the suspect appeared to be wearing dark-colored pants, a black zip-up coat, and a dark blue/black hat with ear flaps. Before the robbery, he pulled a dark scarf or other covering over his face, according to police.

Police believe this robbery may be connected to one at a Dollar General store last week.
