A minor traffic violation led to the seizure of heroin and one arrest in a recent traffic stop in Miami County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Douglas Hayes, 37, of Lexington, Ky., is being held in the Miami County Jail on suspicion of heroin possession, a first-degree felony, possession of Xanax and criminal tools, fifth-degree felonies.
Hayes was driving a 2016 Nissan Sentra, with Kentucky registration, when he was stopped on Interstate 75 South for an alleged lane violation, according to the patrol.
The driver consented to a search of the vehicle, which turned up a syringe, Xanax pills and more than 2 ounces of heroin, which had an estimated street value of $10,875, according to the patrol.
