UPDATE @ 2:40 a.m.
Sgt. Corey Adams with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office said Roger Pettit turned himself in at the Franklin Police Department around 1:30 a.m. Monday.
Pettit is now in the Warren County Jail and new charges pending.
FIRST REPORT
Two men scaled a fence this afternoon to flee the Community Correctional Center.
Roger W. Pettit, 30, remains on the lam after he escaped the facility, Warren County Sheriff’s Lt. Ron Day said. He was last seen wearing a white long-sleeved T-shirt and camouflage shorts.
The center at 5234 state Route 63 is a secure facility, but is not a prison, Day said. He described it as an involuntary halfway house for convicted felons.
Pettit, who is from the Franklin/Carlisle area, is described as 5 feet, 5 inches and 200 pounds with brown hair and green eyes, according to the Franklin Police Department’s Facebook page. He is believed to be headed to Franklin, police said.
Pettit escaped with Chad Munden, from the Hamilton area, Day said. Both men are low-level offenders, he said.
Munden, 38, was found a short time later around 3 p.m. in the area of the Miami Valley Gaming property off Ohio 63 in Monroe. He is now held in the Warren County Jail and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday afternoon, online jail records show.
“They’re both facing felony escape charges,” Day said.
