EARLIER:

The Montgomery County Coroner's Office said a man found dead and rolled up in a piece of carpet was likely dead for days.

An investigator confirmed Tuesday afternoon that William Pike Jr., 43, of Dayton, died sometime on May 22.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is investigating Pike's death as a homicide. His body was found Sunday night on Forney Road in Jefferson Twp.

Katrina Moore, the Jefferson Twp. resident who discovered the body, said people often throw trash in that area, but she didn't expect such a grisly discovery.

"This is somebody's life, you know," Moore said Monday in an interview with News Center 7's Jessica Heffner. "[I question] just the value people put on life now ... Just discarded like a piece of trash."

Moore said she saw a shoe sticking out of the rolled up carpet. She went home and got her husband, Jeff, who lifted it and saw the tattooed leg of a white male.

No further details have been released about the investigation. We will continue to follow this story and have more as it becomes available.
