Man crashes car into pole, falls into hole while trying to run away, Springfield police say

SPRINGFIELD — A man who crashed a car into a utility pole Tuesday night at a Springfield apartment complex fell into a construction hole as he tried to run away.

The crash happened around 9 p.m. at the Ronez Manor Apartments, Springfield police said.

The man was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries he suffered in the crash, police said, but it’s not clear whether he suffered additional injury after falling into the hole at the apartments off North Belmont Avenue.

It’s also unclear whether the construction hole on Ronez Manor property was roped off and its dimensions also were unknown.
