Man accused of using knife to slash Dayton police cruiser’s tires

Police are seeking a 25-year-old Dayton man accused of slashing tires and scratching a Dayton police cruiser.

Christopher Oakley was indicted today on felony charges of vandalism and possession of criminal tools by a Montgomery County grand jury.

Police said Oakley on April 15 slashed two tires on a cruiser, which also had a long scratch from the rear passenger door to the front fender.

The incident happened while officers were on foot patrol in the area of the Greater Dayton RTA bus hub, according to a Dayton police report. Officers said witnesses identified Oakley as the suspect, and that he had a knife when officers confronted him. The cruiser was towed from the scene.

A warrant was issued today for Oakley’s arrest, and he is scheduled to be arraigned June 22 in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.
